Our ethos

So the right people find us

What we believe, how we live together, and what we ask of everyone who comes.

Grounded, not dogmatic

We chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and explore the mystical and esoteric, from a grounded, practical place. No gurus, no hierarchy of the spiritual.

Come as you are

Queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled, mixed, nomadic, unsure. You are welcome exactly as you are, and so is everyone else.

Quiet is sacred

This is a calm place. We keep noise low, respect quiet hours and ask before touching, hugging or joining in. Low pressure, clear communication.

Animals are family

We do not own the animals, we live with them. Be gentle, follow the feeding rules and never leave gates open.

Fair shares

Everyone takes turns cooking and cleaning. Food shares, skills and ideas are always welcome. Nobody carries the valley alone.

Clear shared spaces

The shared kitchen and common spaces are alcohol, drug and smoke free. Smoking is fine in your own private space and the smoking areas.

Create boldly

Music, art, writing, building, healing, ritual. Bring your project. The studio, the land and the MV Fam are here to help it grow.

Leave it better

Leave every space, plant and person a little better than you found them. Off-grid means we all look after water, power and waste.

You will love it here if...

  • you crave quiet, nature and a slower pace
  • you are curious about the mystical, esoteric and creative
  • you are queer, neurodivergent or simply a bit different, and want to be among your people
  • you love animals and do not mind dog hair on everything
  • you work remotely and want a calm base with good people
  • you are happy to cook, share and pitch in

It might not be for you if...

  • you are looking for a party place
  • you need hotel comforts and fast everything
  • you want to drink or use in shared spaces
  • you are not comfortable living alongside very different people
  • you expect others to cook and clean for you
